Headway welcomes Dr. Neha Chaudhary as Chief Medical Officer

At Headway, we’re building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access — one that isn’t just accessible, but effective for those who need it. To truly transform mental health care, it has to be high-quality and built around the needs of both patients and providers.

That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Neha Chaudhary as our new Chief Medical Officer.

Neha isn’t just a Harvard-trained psychiatrist — she’s a practicing clinician. That perspective matters. From day one, she’ll bring her first-hand understanding of what it takes to deliver excellent care to Headway providers across our network, ensuring they have the support, data and tools they need to focus on what matters most: their patients.

“Dr. Neha Chaudhary’s hire reflects our commitment to pairing access with clinical excellence,” said Andrew Adams, Founder and CEO of Headway. “Her ability to translate research into practical solutions, combined with her entrepreneurial approach to innovation, makes her the ideal leader to help Headway set new standards for high-quality care — and to unlock the opportunity our scale creates to transform how care is delivered nationwide.”

Why Neha?

Neha is a double board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, with an active clinical practice. She’s also a nationally recognized leader in digital health, bringing a rare combination of clinical expertise, research experience and entrepreneurial spirit.

Before joining Headway, Neha served as Chief Medical Officer at Modern Health, co-founded the Stanford Lab for Mental Health Innovation, and has been a trusted advisor across healthcare and technology. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, CNN, Forbes, and ABC News — shaping how people think about mental health and access to care.

Why now?

Headway has grown into the largest mental health provider network in the country, with more than 60,000 providers caring for patients nationwide. That scale brings incredible responsibility — and incredible opportunity.

We already have a strong Clinical Strategy team in place. Neha’s arrival super-charges that effort, helping us:

  • Deepen clinical quality: setting evidence-based standards that providers can trust.

  • Advance research: using our scale to generate insights that actively move the field forward.

  • Empower providers: creating tools and data that improve the provider experience and patient outcomes alike.

What's next?

Neha will lead Headway’s Clinical Strategy, quality initiatives, and research. A key part of her work will be partnering closely with providers to shape how quality is measured in mental health. We know it’s complex — and that health plans care deeply about outcomes. Together with our clinicians, we’ll design measures that reflect real-world practice and capture what quality truly looks like in mental health.

“Headway’s infrastructure creates an unprecedented opportunity to conduct meaningful research, establish care pathways, and demonstrate what quality mental healthcare looks like at scale,” said Dr. Neha Chaudhary. “I’m energized by the chance to build something entirely new — a research and Clinical Strategy function that doesn’t just support providers and patients, but actively advances the field.”

We’re proud to welcome Neha to the team and excited about the next chapter of Headway’s journey: building a new mental healthcare system that is not only accessible, but clinically excellent for everyone.
