There are 2 ways to refer:
- Invite a provider directly
If you know a provider who is ready to join, invite them directly by submitting their contact information, and our team will reach out to them directly to schedule an intro meeting.
- Share your unique referral link
Share your referral link with a provider or with an audience on social media, and providers can sign up at their own pace.
Refer licensed mental health providers. We work with Master's Level Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, and Psychiatric Care Practitioners.
You'll qualify for a reward when the provider you refer submits our credentialing intake form to start the insurance paneling process.
Once you qualify for a reward, you will receive a link in your email to redeem your reward through Paypal within a day.
Referrals may be rejected for a variety of reasons. They may be rejected:
- If they don't have the necessary professional credentials: They must meet the insurer requirements to get credentialed. These requirements include licensure, board certifications, and prescriber registrations.
- Your referral has already joined Headway as a provider.
- Your referral was referred by someone else before you.
We introduced new links in order to make it possible to track your referral statuses, but your old referral links are still active!
HEADWAY PROVIDER REFERRAL PROGRAM TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Headway Provider Referral Program Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the relationship between you, the provider, and Therapymatch, Inc. dba Headway and its affiliates ("we," "our," "us," or "Headway") and set forth the framework for your participation in the Provider Referral Program. Headway may modify these Terms at its sole discretion without advance notice by either posting the modified Terms on its site and/or by email notification. Please check our site to see any updates. All modified terms and conditions will be effective at the time they are posted, unless a longer notice period is required by applicable law or unless we specify an effective date.Last Updated: June 2025
PROGRAM OVERVIEWHeadway's Provider Referral Program ("Referral Program") gives eligible persons ("Referrers") (defined in Section 2 below) the opportunity to refer eligible mental health providers to join Headway as new Providers (each a "Referred Provider"). These Program Rules apply to both Referrers and Referred Providers.
REFERRER ELIGIBILITYTo be eligible to participate in the Referral Program, you must be in good standing under the Referral Program Terms & Conditions, the Headway Terms of Service, and any other applicable terms and conditions, as determined in Headway's sole discretion. In addition, to be eligible as a Provider, you must have an active account in good standing with Headway. If you violate the Referral Program Terms & Conditions, the Headway Terms of Service, or any other applicable terms, Headway may suspend or terminate your ability to participate in the Referral Program.
HEADWAY CODES / URLSUnder the Referral Program, Headway may provide you with a unique alphanumeric code ("Headway Code") and unique URL ("Headway URL") to distribute to eligible individuals to become new Providers. Headway owns all rights in and to any Headway Code or Headway URL, and may reclaim, deactivate, invalidate, or terminate your Headway Code or Headway URL at any time at its sole discretion.
HOW TO REFER NEW PROVIDERS
Referred Providers.If you are not a current Headway provider, you may refer an eligible individual to become a new Provider through Refer a Provider | Headway. If you are a current Headway provider, you may refer eligible individuals to become new Providers on Headway through the Headway provider portal ("Provider Portal"). In order to be eligible for a Referral Reward (defined below) for a new Provider, the person must:
- Have never previously completed an intake form on Headway,
- Have never previously been referred to Headway,
- Be a fully licensed mental health provider in the United States in a licensure category served by Headway, and
- Satisfy the applicable Reward Criteria, as discussed below.
Invitations through the Headway Platform.You may invite other mental health providers to become a Headway Provider directly through the Provider Portal by providing Headway with your referee's contact information directly, or by sharing your Headway URL with your referee (all information collected by Headway under the Referral Program shall be governed by Headway's Privacy Policy). If your referee uses your Headway URL to submit an interest form, your Headway Code will be automatically applied to the Referred Provider's application. Inviting an individual through the Provider Portal or via your Headway URL may generate an automatic invitation text (SMS) or email (the "Invitation") to the person being referred. The Invitation will prompt the Referred Provider to schedule an introductory call with Headway. By making a referral, you represent that you have the necessary consent from your referee for Headway to send them the invitation. Referred Providers are given the option to opt out of the process at any time.
REFERRAL REWARDS
If you have any questions, please contact us via the Contact Form.General.You are eligible to earn a referral incentive ("Referral Reward") for each Referred Provider that you refer to Headway (subject to certain maximum limits and the other terms in these Program Rules). As discussed above, in order to qualify as your Referred Provider, the new Provider must satisfy the applicable reward criteria ("Reward Criteria"). The Reward Criteria are set by Headway in its sole discretion and are subject to change at any time. The Reward Criteria may vary by market or within a particular market. Headway, at its sole discretion, may make available certain promotions with different Reward Criteria or Referral Rewards to other Providers or prospective Providers. These promotions, unless offered to you, shall have no bearing whatsoever on your Agreement or relationship with Headway.If the new User that you refer satisfies the Reward Criteria, the type of Referral Reward you are eligible to receive may depend on:
- The Market associated with the Referred Provider when they complete intake,
- The License Type associated with the Referred Provider when they complete intake,
- The Practice Type associated with the Referred Provider when they complete intake, or
- Promotions offered by Headway.
Earning Referral Rewards for Referred Providers.When you refer a new Provider to Headway, you may be eligible for a Referral Reward if the Provider is approved and satisfies the Reward Criteria. The applicable Reward Criteria varies by time, provider type, market, and promotion. Details about the applicable Reward Criteria for the Referred Provider (if any) can be found in Headway's Help Center. As a standing rule, and unless modified by a specific offer's Reward Criteria, the new Provider applicant must complete their Headway provider application and become approved to use Headway in order to be eligible to complete the Reward Criteria.
Maximum Referral Rewards for Referred Provider.Headway reserves the right to set a maximum amount of Referral Rewards you can earn per week (or any other time increment) for referring new Providers to Headway. It is your responsibility to review the Program Rules for the current maximum limits. Participation in all programs is subject to Headway's sole discretion, and Headway does not guarantee participation.
Payout Process for Referral Rewards.Headway issues all Referral Rewards via PayPal and is unable to make exceptions to this policy. By participating in our Provider Referral Program, you are agreeing to receive any Referral Rewards via PayPal unless otherwise communicated. Referrers will receive an email directly from PayPal within 5 business days of the Referred Provider completing their Headway application with instructions to access their Referral Reward. You will have 90 days to claim a Referral Reward from the date such Referral Reward is made available to you via PayPal. If you do not redeem such Referral Reward within this 90-day timeframe, we reserve the right to automatically cancel such payment without further notice and you will forfeit any right to claim the Referral Reward.
Resolving Disputes over Referrals.Only one person can earn a Referral Reward for a single Referred Provider. In the event that multiple persons claim credit for a particular referral, Headway has sole and complete discretion to determine which person earned such referral according to Headway's systems.
Final Decision - Reservation of Rights.Headway reserves the right to withhold or deduct Referral Rewards or Referral Credit obtained through the Referral Program in the event that Headway determines or believes that the receipt of the Referral Reward or Referral Credit was in error, fraudulent, illegal, failed to meet eligibility or other participation criteria, or otherwise in violation of these Program Rules or any other applicable agreement between you and Headway. All decisions of Headway are final and may not be appealed.
