Building your first website as a therapist may feel overwhelming, especially if web design isn’t your strong suit. Keep in mind that your website doesn’t need to have all the bells and whistles; it just needs to be effective. The goal is to reflect who you are, clearly communicate what services you offer, and make it seamless for clients to book with you. Here, we’ve compiled a list of great therapist websites that can spark ideas as you begin to build your online presence.

3 elements of an effective therapist websites

Who you are

Think of your site as your client’s first impression of you. A warm, friendly photo in a professional setting allows the client to envision working with you. Pair that photo with a personal introduction in your tone of voice, which should give a short summary of your background, education, and your therapeutic approaches. This helps clients get a sense of who you are before they reach out.

How much sessions cost

Transparent pricing builds trust. Make sure your session fees are clearly defined, and specify whether you are self-pay or accept insurance, or if you offer a sliding scale. This prepares clients for what to expect while working with you — and it respects their time (and yours) while removing blurred lines from the process.

How clients can book

The easier it is to schedule, the better. Using a clear call-to-action button like “Set up your free 15 minute consultation” or “Book Now” is a great way for prospective clients to take the next steps.

The diversity in perspectives communicates credibility while emphasizing the importance of loved ones’ support in her clinical work.

4. Anzen Counseling

anzencounseling.com

Noteworthy element: Identifying her ideal client. Clear language throughout the site defines who Chelsea works best with, making it easy for prospective clients to decide if they’re the right fit for each other.

Few things are more damaging to a client’s confidence seeking care than feeling a strong connection with a provider to later learn they're out-of-network. Serene Spaces avoids client disappointment from the start by clearly listing six accepted insurances and offering additional affordable payment options for those who are out-of-network. The payment transparency with a “Contact Us Now” button helps clients feel supported before the work begins.

For clients who are always on the move, it can be challenging to find consistent care. Dr Bogan solves that problem by clearly listing the 39 PSYPACT states where she is authorized to practice. PSYPACT, or the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, allows licensed psychologists to practice across state lines via telepsychology or temporary in-person sessions without needing to obtain additional state licenses.
